Summer Youth Employment Program

Iowa Comprehensive Human Services’ (ICHS) has for over 40 years helped disadvantaged youth graduate from high school and become employed.

This past year, the United States Government funded the “American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009” providing stimulus funds to operate a Summer Youth Employment and Training Program (SYETP). Eligible youth 14 through 24 years old participate in planned activities and paid work experiences. We anticipate, but can not guarantee the same program this year. We are encouraging youth to apply to start the planning process.

PROGRAM GOALS

The goal of SYETP is to provide youth with meaningful jobs in private/public/governmental/or private non-profit agencies which:

  • Promote employability skills,
  • Provide the opportunity for "hands-on" work experience in occupations of interest,

  • Encourage youth to complete their secondary or post secondary education.
